We know that Dropbox stores your files in a deleted files folder and doesn’t remove it from its server. It moves those file in to another folder from where you may restore it. Advanced users would consider to use this space for additional storage but that is a risk to the data, instead refer users to join Dropbox and you can earn 250 MB for each installation.
For deleting whatever files you have on your Dropbox Trash following this procedure –

1. From your Dropbox icon located on the Windows notification area, right-click on it and select ‘Launch Dropbox website’.

2. A new tab will be opened on your default browser. So here it is on my Firefox it will open a new tab automatically leading to your Dropbox account online.

3. Now go to Files and click on ‘Show deleted files’ options. Clicking on that button will reveal all the deleted files during the past 30 days.

4. You can clearly distinguish between the deleted files and present files. The deleted files are light in color and it’s shown just like your Windows hidden files are shown. This in term makes distinguish between the delete files and the original files.

5. Select the files which you permanently wanted to delete.

6. Now click on More and select ‘Permanent Delete’.

7. Then confirm with your action.

8. Finally you have the response from the Dropbox instantaneously.

So, its clear that you need to manually delete the trash files to get a permanent delete of your files. However its will cause you no harm if you don’t do permanent deletion because its not even taking any space from your 2 GB allocated (for free Dropbox users) infect serves your more by acting as recycle bin.
