Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Released For Samsung Galaxy S II In Europe

The Android 4.0 ICS software update was presented half a year ago at Samsung + Google “Unwrapping Ice Cream Sandwich” event in Hong Kong along with search giant’s developers smartphone, Galaxy Nexus, world’s first smartphone to come pre-loaded with Android 4.0.

Previous rumors were saying that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will arrive on Samsung Galaxy S II on March 10th, but the South Korea-based company have dismissed the rumors via Twitter.

Finally the big day have arrived and the rumors have been confirmed, as Samsung announced on Twitter that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for Samsung Galaxy S II will be rolled out starting today. The first wave will hit Poland, Hungary, Sweden and South Korea. Other countries will follow shortly and soon the Android 4.0 ICS update for Samsung Galaxy S2 will become global.

We expect the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update to hit most European countries by the end of the week. No word yet about the US arrival of the Android ICS 4.0 update.

But the Samsung Galaxy S2 owners aren’t the only ones with reasons to celebrate. Samsung announced that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich software update will soon arrive Samsung Galaxy Note, Galaxy R, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9 and 10.1. On the other hand Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7, Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy S SCL and Galaxy W will Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrades by the end of the month.

Usually the owners of the unlocked terminals are the first to receive the firmware updates, as the carriers are free to roll out the update whenever they want.
